For over a decade, Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts has invited locals and visitors to breathe, move, and reconnect on the serene shores of Tybee Island, GA. Since 2013, our beach yoga classes have been a grounding, joyful, and restorative experience for the Lowcountry community. And now, we’re excited to elevate that experience even further with a powerful new wellness addition: guided cold plunging.
Why Cold Plunging?
Cold plunging has gained attention across the wellness world for its incredible physical and mental benefits. When paired with yoga, breathwork, and mindful movement, it becomes even more potent. A short, intentional cold-water immersion can help:

Supporting Women in Menopause: A Mindful Approach to Cold Exposure
At Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts, we understand that wellness is not one-size-fits-all—especially when it comes to women navigating perimenopause or menopause. Including myself many women in this stage of life experience increased sensitivity to temperature changes, higher baseline stress levels, or a tendency to enter “fight or flight” more quickly. That’s why we take a thoughtful, trauma-informed approach to cold plunging for this age range.
Here’s how we support menopausal women in our cold plunge experiences:
Gentler Temperatures:
Research and experience show that menopausal bodies often respond better to moderate cold rather than extreme cold. Colder isn’t always better—especially when shivering could increase stress hormones. We keep plunges at a comfortable-but-invigorating temperature to support nervous system regulation rather than overstimulation.Longer Acclimation Time:

A Natural Fit for Beach Yoga
There’s something uniquely powerful about practicing yoga beside the ocean: the rhythmic waves, the soft sand, the spacious sky. Adding a cold plunge to the end (or beginning!) of your practice allows you to fully embrace the natural elements around you.
Imagine finishing your Sun Salutations as the sun rises, closing your practice with pranayama and intention, then stepping into ice cold saltwater for a refreshing, guided plunge. The ocean becomes both your teacher and your tool for inner steadiness. We bring the ice :)
