About - Our Story
Where Wellness Meets the Water
Founded in 2013 from a passion for mindful movement and coastal living, Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts was created to offer a gentler, more nature-connected way to practice. Our philosophy is simple: yoga doesn’t need four walls to transform you. Sometimes, the most powerful practice happens barefoot in the sand, guided by the rhythm of the ocean.
A Heart-Centered Approach
We believe in slow, intentional movement, mindful breath, and creating spaces where people feel supported, seen, and safe. Our teaching honors all stages of life — from little ones discovering mindfulness to adults seeking stress relief, balance, or emotional grounding.
Our Values:
Accessibility: Yoga for every age, ability, economic status, and experience level.
Community: Welcoming locals, travelers, families, and groups.
Nature: Let the ocean, sky, and sunrise be your backdrop.
Healing: Movement, breath, and awareness as tools for restoration.

Laurie Kinkel - Dale
Owner & Lead Instructor | Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts
E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor | Outdoor & Inclusive Yoga, Bachelorette Yoga
Laurie Kinkel is the owner and operator of Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts and a highly experienced yoga teacher based on Tybee Island, Georgia, where she has lived and taught since 2001. With over 25 years of personal yoga practice and more than a decade of professional teaching experience, Laurie brings depth, integrity, and heart to every class she leads.
Laurie first discovered yoga in 1997 while studying Performing Arts at the University of Akron in Ohio. What began as a complementary practice quickly became a lifelong path of study, self-inquiry, and service. She has maintained a consistent personal practice ever since and has been teaching yoga professionally since 2013 through her locally owned business, Tybee Yoga & Healing Arts.
In 2017, Laurie completed her 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with Marianne Wells Yoga School in Costa Rica, studying directly under Marianne Wells, who trained in the 1980s with B.K.S. Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar Yoga and a global authority on alignment-based practice. This lineage deeply informs Laurie’s teaching style, with a strong emphasis on safe alignment, intelligent use of props, and injury prevention.
Continuing her commitment to lifelong learning, Laurie has completed certified Pranayama and Meditation training and is now a Yoga Alliance–registered E-RYT 500 through The Lotus Pond. She is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) and the creator of the 15-hour Beach Yoga Certification, a continuing education course designed specifically for yoga teachers who want to safely and skillfully teach in outdoor and beach environments. In addition, Laurie is a certified Kidding Around Yoga® instructor, bringing yoga and mindfulness to children in a playful, age-appropriate way.
Laurie specializes in a wide range of offerings throughout Tybee Island and the greater Savannah area, including:
All Levels Hatha Yoga
Beach Yoga & Outdoor Yoga Classes
Gentle & Senior Yoga
Restorative & Yin Yoga
Pranayama & Meditation Classes
Yoga Workshops & Teacher Continuing Education
Children’s Yoga (Kidding Around Yoga®)
Her teaching style centers on Life Force Energy Control, (pranayama) and the integration of breath with movement (asana) to cultivate mindfulness, strength, and resilience. Laurie believes that when alignment, breath, and intention come together, yoga becomes a powerful tool for both physical healing and mental clarity.
Beyond the mat, Laurie is deeply involved in the local community and has led and collaborated on numerous fundraising and service-based yoga events supporting organizations such as The Humane Society of Savannah, Savannah AMBUCS, Brightside Family Advocacy, and The Junior League of Savannah, and Little Pink Houses of Hope, among others.
When she’s not teaching, Laurie can usually be found enjoying island life — practicing yoga on the beach, skateboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply soaking up the natural beauty that inspires her work every day.

Jessie Gulliver
200-Hour Certified Yoga Instructor | Baptiste Power Yoga
Jessie Gulliver is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor based in Savannah, Georgia, known for her dynamic teaching style and deep passion for Baptiste Power Yoga, stand-up paddleboard (SUP) yoga, and community-centered movement. A self-described beach girl at heart, Jessie has lived along the East Coast her entire life — from Jacksonville, North Carolina, to the northern waters of Massachusetts — before ultimately making Savannah home.
Jessie’s yoga journey began through stand-up paddleboarding, where she discovered SUP yoga and quickly felt called to teach it. After completing her Yoga Teacher Training at Mira Yoga School, she stepped into teaching immediately and soon realized that yoga was exactly where she was meant to be. As her practice evolved, Jessie developed a strong connection to Baptiste Power Yoga and went on to complete her Baptiste certification, deepening her love for powerful, music-driven, sweat-inducing classes.
With over 10 years of experience teaching power yoga, Jessie is especially known for bringing people together through yoga and music. Her signature Yoga Jams blend movement, rhythm, and community energy, creating classes that feel both challenging and celebratory. Her newest offering, the Social Yoga Jam in Savannah, continues this mission — offering an inclusive, donation-based gathering designed to make yoga accessible and fun for all.
Jessie also serves as the Yoga Ambassador for lululemon Savannah, further reflecting her commitment to community connection and shared movement experiences. She looks forward to continuing to offer strong, empowering yoga classes that inspire confidence, connection, and joy both on and off the mat.
Carmen “Chintamani” Loup
200-Hour Certified Yoga Instructor | Hatha Yoga, Beach Yoga & Meditation
Carmen “Chintamani” Loup is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor teaching in the Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia area, with a focus on Hatha yoga, beach yoga, and meditation. Carmen has maintained a dedicated yoga practice since first discovering Hatha yoga in 2012, inspired by the vitality and presence of an elder teacher whose lifelong practice demonstrated the transformative power of yoga.
Drawn to the deeper philosophical roots of the practice, Carmen went on to study world religions and Eastern philosophies, including Buddhism and the Tao Te Ching, which helped shape their personal path toward inner peace and mindful living. In 2021, Carmen completed their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the Integral Yoga Institute of New York, where they immersed themselves in Vedic teachings that form the foundation of classical yoga. Through this lineage, Carmen was given the Sanskrit name “Chintamani,” meaning “the thought-gem.”
In addition to yoga instruction, Carmen is a certified Usui Reiki Master and Spiritual Coach, offering a holistic and integrative approach to teaching. Their classes often blend gentle Hatha postures, breath awareness, and meditation, creating practices that are joyful, playful, and accessible for all levels.
Carmen also teaches Tarot at Cosmic Corner in Savannah, continuing their passion for sharing tools for self-reflection and personal growth. Outside of teaching, Carmen is a writer and artist, creating novels and comic books set in The Audacity — a whimsical, Douglas Adams–inspired sci-fi universe that balances absurdism and existential curiosity. This creative spirit naturally weaves its way into Carmen’s classes, making each offering both grounding and uplifting.
